Mountfield was incorporated in February 1987 by Graham Read. The company carries out direct contracting services and has its own management team and centralised services such as plant hire, resourcing and subcontracting.
The company carries out works as a main contractor with end-user clients. Since the 1990s Mountfield has specialised in the nationwide installation of Data Centres. Over the last ten years it has successfully completed contracts for more than 40 Data Centres throughout the UK for clients who include: Colt Communications, Level 3, Kingston Telecom, Kingston inmedia, Energis Plc, Planet Online Limited, Nevada Telecom and Cable & Wireless.
The Data Centre market is expanding with major companies (in particular banks and retailers) setting up their own facilities in order to reduce costs rather than outsource them to Data Centres operated by telecom companies. The Directors believe that over the next 5 years there will be further growth in the Data Centre market and that at least 5 million square feet of new Data Centre space will be required and that Mountfield has the experience, reputation and contacts to benefit from this market growth.
